Background

Ashe County Free Medical Clinic, Inc. had its beginning in 2005. A Duke Divinity School Grant was awarded to Ashe Outreach Ministries & Clifton United Methodist Church. With this grant, a faith-based, interdenominational, all volunteer community outpatient medical clinic was formed in Ashe County.

The Clinic is independent and self supporting. ACFMC joins 73 other free clinics scattered in 47 North Carolina counties.

The clinic and its providers enjoy full accreditation.

Funding Support

Coordination

ACFMC establishes and maintains coordination with the governmental, private and charitable organizations that have compatible missions and may be a source of patient referral, support services, and adjunct resources, e.g., Farm Worker Health Program, Health Department, Ashe Memorial Hospital, Ashe Services for Aging, Department of Social Services, etc.

ACFMC is not in competition for patient care but seeks identification of those needing but not receiving care.

It also seeks partners in mission who can provide networking, services, resources, funding and volunteers.
